“what a place!”

Having been to caravans in Wales many years ago we didnt know what to expect from a French version. We neednt have worried because this camp was a wonderful place to spend two weeks. A very relaxed, tree laden, well maintained and brilliantly located camp awaited us. Ignore some of the reviews here because if roomy caravans, swimming pool, bakery, stunning restaraunt and bar, shops, evening entertainment, a nearby fairground, water park and marineland,a 5 minute walk to the sea and quick and easy public transport sounds good to you then a wonderful holiday awaits. We went to Florida last year but its here that we will be coming back to next year.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from 3 wonderful weeks in the South of France, of which we spent one week 17th-24th Sept at Camp du Pylone.
We arrived mid -afternoon in Camp du Pylone which is in Biot nr Antibes. We had travelled there by train, Biot stop is approx 200/300 metres away from main entrance, the pebbly Biot beach just behind the train station.
We were met by our lovely guide Linda who walked us to our mobile home giving us lots of info and advice. The site is very big, over 700 mob homes I was told but we quickly got used to the layout. Our mobile home was ideal, everything we needed clean, tidy and well equipped. We had a BBQ,outdoor furniture, all the usual kitchen items,DVD etc and even Sky TV.
There is a huge supermarket 1 stop away from Biot train Stn, which you can also access via the 200 bus which runs alongside the train tracks up and down the coast between Nice and Antibes (1.40E)
The site has a large bar with big screens which show Sky football amongst other things. It has indoor and outdoor seating and also has a large restaurant which we ate in one night and found very reasonable and delicious. A large beer (pint) was 4,40E which I found to be reasonable on the Cote d'Azur!
There is a pizza take away which we didn't 'try but heard good reports, a bakery which we did use every day and loved and a small shop with essential items.
The pool was free at this time of year but didn't look too inviting to me, all concrete around the edge (nowhere to lay) although it was free at this time of season (2E p.day normally) This didn't bother us and we didn't once use it as we went out to explore everyday.
This was the best thing about Camp du Pylone, the LOCATION. It is right on the coastal train (tgv) line which runs from Monaco and beyond to Marseille and stops at every town. The most we payed was 5E to get to Monaco (40mins) We visited a different place eveyday, the trains are regular and timetable easy to read. Antibes (2 stops) Nice, Cannes, Juan Les Pins (beaches!!) Monaco etc are all a short ride away and for people relying on public transport, it was perfect!!
We walked to Biot Centre, the old village which was quite a walk (4 miles each way) but is a lovely old town,all old,narrow streets and small restaurants.
The camp was quiet, due to the time of season so was ideal for us and we are now attempting to buy a mobile home there.
All in all the site was excellent in value and location and we will definitely be heading back there next year.

I have never had a holiday where my kids enjoyed themselves so much..........This site and the surrounding area is a template for holiday companies and tourist boards on how a family tourist area should be .......
All within 3-5 mins WALKING distance were----
A funfair......Aquapark.......Marinepark....and a train station to explore the entire french riviera.....
We even went on a daytrip into Italy on the train !!!......2 ad 3 kids-45 euros (£30) return......
The onsite supermarket is expensive but if u get on the train and go for one stop (about 3 mins journey!) u will find a much larger supermarket with more choice and cheaper prices....all in all we had a fantastic time.....our accomodation was a 3 bed caravan which was excellent and spotless....our BBQ was a little worse for wear and when we pointed this out...we had a nxt day delivery of a brand new BBQ !!!

If u are looking for a family holiday with plenty to do and no tour reps pestering u to buy excursions but still want a choice and variety of where to go and what to do then go to camp du pylone....
Lorraine and her husband were more than helpful and even offer a pick-up and return service to the airport...(even at 5am !!..thanx Mick)....
